SPOTLIGHT ON HOT UP AND COMING ARTISTS

 www.zuudiakusentertainment.com

The music known as JāD began in Atlanta during the summer of 2000 with a union of four established artists from separate successful outfits in the region.  Each member brings a unique sound and style to the mix, which together has created one of the most powerful rock acts in the Southeast. JāD’s sound consists of sophisticated, engaging rock that delivers a slashing edge.  The band’s music coupled with an incredibly powerful live show, has allowed them to have a considerable impact in the Southeast music scene; including winning 96 Rock's Best Unsigned Band in Atlanta contest that provided them the opportunity to play the main stage at Atlanta's Music Midtown; winning
the regional competition for Cabo Wabo's Battle of the Bands competition (top 10 unsigned bands in the US); finalist in the Jim Beam/Rolling Rock Battle of the Bands; 4 live appearances on 96 Rock's (WKLX Atlanta) morning show; selling 2K + copies of their debut full-length CD 'Lose Your Mind'; and performing 100+ live dates across the Southeast and East Coast.
The band has recently recorded three tracks with Rick Beato (The Working Title, Flickerstick, Endo) and two with Don McCollister (Sister Hazel, Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins) for their new five song EP (More Than Coincidence).  Check out the band’s website for additional information: http://www.jadtheband.com.

Her voice demands your attention. Her live performance commands your respect. Her music moves your soul. The name of this inspiring performer is Phillippia, and she is changing the face and the sound of neo-soul music.

Incomparable to other emerging soul sista's such as Ashanti or Tweet, what sets Phillippia apart from most artists is her drive to make real music about real life. Similar to some of the most recent artists who have influenced her, such as Jill Scott and Joi, Phillippia is a true soul artist. Phillippia's first exposure to music came from her mother, who is a singer herself. It was this influence that helped Phillippia to develop her passion for music. So much so, that she knew early in life that she had to make it her career.

With a passion to make her own music, Phillippia decided to make a career in music a reality. Phillipia began her career by singing in different local talent shows in her then hometown of Miami, Florida. Not long after, she started working with a local record label, Land Mark Entertainment. She became a hot commodity for the record label, being featured on songs by Trick Daddy and the Iconz.

Phillippia eventually parted ways with Land Mark Entertainment and moved with her two children to Atlanta, Georgia. Once in Atlanta, she began to perform at several local hot spots and venues including Taboo Bar and Bistro, and began to make a buzz for herself by generating a loyal fan base. Along the road, she has had the opportunity to perform background vocals for Universal Recording artist, Joi. Soon after, Phillippia embarked on her own music project and began recording original material with producer/artist Ken Ford of KF Productions.

Phillippia enjoys listening to many of today's artists such as Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu and Nas. However, she also appreciates many of the R&B and Soul originators such as Stephanie Mills, Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin. Although she loves to listen to these artists regularly, the music that she is most excited about is her own. With plans to release her highly anticipated album "Earth Child" independently, Phillippia is looking forward to also finding distribution through a major label.Best said in her own words, Phillippia is making music for "people who are searching for good heart felt soul music." With a bright future ahead of her, and her already large fan base, Phillippia is the new artist everyone needs to watch out for. http://www.liquidsoulradio.com/artist/lsr_phillippia.htm

Visit Donnie's Website...Finally, Donnie's debut album "The Colored Section" is IN STORES NOW! Donnie's lyrics are a thought provoking modern day masterpiece about the true power of oneself. Like Marvin Gaye asking "What's going on?" or Sly Stone starting a riot, Donnie has a musical message of substance that needs to be heard. Championed by many DJ's worldwide, praised by press, and with an ever-growing fan base, Donnie is poised to rock the commercial mainstream. His song "Cloud 9" is currently featured in the movie Brown Sugar and "Our New National Anthem" is highlighted in BET's national ad campaign. In a voice that recalls Stevie Wonder at his most euphoric and Donny Hathaway at his most tortured, Donnie's music is an irresistible mix for any collection. Destined to be a modern soul classic, Donnie's "The Colored Section" is quickly making everyone's top of the year lists - support this new artist and buy your copy now!

A "get-real" from the heart songwriter, Heston's connection with listeners and music lovers everywhere crosses all boundaries. The warm and inviting vocals pouring from his soul have helped him capture anyone who chances a listen, male or female, black or white.

Listen hard to the sounds emanating from his EP and you might hear the echoes of voices like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Smoky Robinson and even Sam Cooke.  Feel the music and you might be inspired to move.

As a young boy on the island of Dominica, the early influences of reggae, Bob Marley and Berres Hammond would make a huge impact on the grooves of this soulful artist. But at the tender young age of 10, Michael Jackson and "Beat it" would seal his love for American Music.

At the age of twelve Heston moved to Philadelphia to live with his mother and extended family.  Heston turned to songwriting and singing as solace.  Through listening to great songwriters, like Elton John and The Bee Gees, Heston learned to appreciate the turn of a true and good lyric.  His own lyrics speak to the heart with a raw honesty about life and love taking the listener  to a new understanding.

With the release of his debut EP, Heston has been able to broaden and expand his reach to radio listeners and club-goers everywhere.  Response has been wonderful, with listener comments such as, "This is what we've been waiting for,"......" Heston's music is a mixture of spirits of the past and the true soul music we long to hear,".... "Heston is the Donnie Hathaway of our time." College radio, always the first to pick-up on new movements and innovative artists, has placed him in regular rotation and has quickly made his voice a favorite of their listening audience.

A charismatic performer, the live show is where you truly appreciate the beautiful energy and tremendous spirit of this exciting singer.  Heston is able to communicate and connect with audiences on so many levels, whether he's opening for dynamic acts such as Donnie and
Cody Chesnut
, or headlining jam-packed shows at the Apache Cafe, Cotton Club, and eleven50.  His persona reaches out whether being Featured Artist at industry events with organizations like GMIA, ASCAP, and NARAS; or showcasing at festivals, including The Jezebel Magazine, Caribbean, Jazz, and Black Art Festivals.  Heston's presence and music continue to create a huge groundswell everywhere he performs, adding devoted fans along the way.
Whether captivating audiences with his enveloping performance or stealing souls through radios, this "gentle giant" beckons anyone within range of his unique voice. Heston is the voice we have all been waiting to hear! www.hestonmusic.com

  Chanda Leigh

There is something inspiring about a performer who has the whole package: talent, intelligence, beauty and stage appeal. ChandaLeigh is an artist who has just that type of effect on people. This ambitious pianist and vocalist obtained her passion for music while playing for her father's church choir when she was only 12 years old. It was this foundation that gave her the ear for every other kind of music.

An honor student, this Spelman College graduate studied creative writing and jazz piano. The Chanda Bailey Trio, which she formed in 1995, performed live jazz all over Atlanta, delighting audiences at the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Montreaux Music Festival and The High Museum of Art. In 1997, the budding artist moved to Los Angeles to begin her television career playing keyboards in the house band of the Keenen Ivory Wayans Show. In March of 1998, she met and befriended Grammy-nominated producer, DaMone Arnold. The two instantly formed a musical bond, quickly writing and recording her first record, Easy on the Eyes. Her debut, which she playfully describes as a hybrid of Janet Jackson meets Stevie Wonder, is a collaboration of songs that are both playful and heartfelt.

After a 1999 world tour with the Grammy-nominated reggae band, "Morgan Heritage, Chanda Leigh returned to the US to grace the big screen in Jerry Bruckheimer romantic film, "Coyote Ugly". Later that same year, she began collaborating with longtime mentor, friend and poet Ray Grant. Together the two have created such inspiring songs as "Big City Life", 'Wash His Feet" and "Don't Cry For Me". "Since I've been working with Ray Grant, I find myself paying closer attention to the details of life. As a poet, he encourages me to see beyond the surface and reach for the emotion that makes a song really sing. As a team, we can take our musical ideas and craft them into something we can be proud of."

Her talents have also been showcased on MTV, The Roseanne Show, and The Caroline Rhea Show. Her theater credits include Fats Waller's "Ain't Misbehavin", and "Five Guys Named Moe". She also performs regularly with Joe Jennings and the Neighborhood Arts Jazz Orchestra of Atlanta. She says, "I like exploring and performing all kinds of music. I have a great love and respect for it, because music has given me so much."

Currently, Chanda Leigh is one of the keyboard players in the The Caroline Rhea Show house band. Her second album, Big City Life, is a musical journey through life in the hustle and bustle of New York City, and is "much more intense," she says. "Now, when I walk down the street, I see so many things about humanity that inspire me...so many things that bring me to tears. And then I sit down and think of ways to put my thoughts to music." http://www.chandaleigh.com
